 A Call to Revolution

 The United States Declaration of Independence is very clear on the responsibilities of the people in dealing with oppressive governments. It is not only a right but a duty to overthrow oppressive government! 2011 has been an amazing year around the world. Workers and citizens are in active revolt in some places and passive revolt in others. 2012 will be a global year of Revolution.

Below, I have typed a basic Declaration based on the original. This declaration is a call to begin organizing. It is a way to visualize our duty to overthrow oppressive regimes. It is a working document and in no way a final draft. I ask you, the reader, to begin studying the violent history of the Federal Government. I ask you to question the legitimacy of such a government. Finally, I ask you to begin organizing in your community. This is not a call to arms. It is a call to begin building dual power. It is the sharing of a Revolutionary idea. As we end this year and begin a new cycle I ask you all to begin organizing an active resistance. Organize your homes, your workplaces, and your places of worship. Talk with people about the role of government. Discuss the history of the Federal and State governments of the United States. We have the power to change! We have the power to learn, to educate, to grow, to organize, to resist, and to construct new communities! We the People are the Power! But only if we choose to be!

 The Declaration of Independence (Working Draft)

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of  the People requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all People are born equal, that they are endowed by Nature with unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Voluntary Institutions are instituted among People, deriving their just powers from the consent of the people, — That whenever any Form of Institution becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Voluntary Institution, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Institutions long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that people are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Institution, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these States; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Institution. The history of the present Federal Government of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. We present the following evidence for our case.

Whereas The Federal Government has expanded its State from the original thirteen States to fifty States and multiple territories using warfare, persecution of indigenous peoples, and financial dealings with other Colonial Empires.

Whereas The Federal Government has repeatedly Oppressed the first Nations of this land. The Federal Government has through war and deceit taken for itself all the lands of the indigenous peoples.

Whereas The Federal Government has given its powers to create money to privatized banks who have put The United States of America in great debt.

Whereas The Federal Government has created a War on Drugs to Oppress communities within its territories.

Whereas The Federal Government has created a War on Terror in order to suppress dissent abroad and now within its own States.

Whereas The Federal Government maintains seven hundred and fifty Imperial Military bases overseas

Whereas The Federal Government has declared Corporations to have the same rights as people.

Whereas The Federal Government has given vast sums of financial aid to local police forces in order to suppress dissent

Whereas the Federal Government has, throughout its history, supported multiple Despotic Governments abroad thereby oppressing, by proxy, the citizens of those governments.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. The Federal Government of the United States, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Government of a free people.

We, therefore, the People do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Regions, solemnly publish and declare, That these Regions ought to be Free and Independent, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the Federal and State Governments of the United States of America, and that all political connection between them and the United States of America, is and ought to be totally dissolved;

    “Call to BLANK” Everyone’s always calling for this and that and saying we ought to do this. How about you actually organise something? It’s easy to type up a manifesto or a declaration and post it on the internet. Anybody can do that. If you’re the Rosecity Resistance then why don’t you resist and lead by example?

    • The Revolution has already started. The Occupation is the seed of a Revolution. We are growing daily and becoming more bold in our actions. We are introducing to the citizens of the united states the brutal truths of the police state. Rose City Resistance does not need to lead. No group needs to lead. Affinity groups are the best way to de-centralize both actions and revolution. Every person associated with Rose City Resistance is working extremely hard for the Occupy movement. We encourage all radical organizations to get involved with Occupy.

    Well this is just what I am talking about. You claim your actions are “getting more bold”. What bold actions have you actually taken? It seems to me that the only thing radical about your group is the discourse. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the passion and everything, and radical discourse is extremely integral for any movement. However talking about it alone doesn’t amount to any resistance. Actions speak louder then words in these cases.
    And how hard are you and your occupiers actually working? I see you’re calling for a general strike. I have no doubt you have regular general assemblies and have in depth discussions on the problems at hand, and I’m sure you’re even planning some protests. However, has anyone outside of your liberal comfort group responded to this? I mean have you talked to any union reps from the local blue collar workers who tend to be conservative and not only asked but convinced them to join? If not then your general strike wont be too general. It will be the exact same group as last the previous occupy. Nothing will come of this movement if it remains the sole concern of university students and those already Marxist/Anarchist leaning. You and every other occupy movement should be making an effort to have both radical actions and a move outside of your comfort zone to those demographics that dont readily agree. That is where the real work comes in, not telling those already eager for a protest that you’re going to have a protest. Organizing a protest is literally the easiest thing to do. You don’t even need a reason and at least some people will show up. The hard work is convincing people to join that don’t already agree with you. The other hard part is finally committing to actual radical action. I seriously doubt your group has actually taken any radical actions towards autonomy from the federal government.
    Relevant to your theory on society, you really should look up the EZLN. They hold extremely similar views to your own and were actually pretty successful in Chiapas, Mexico. If you want to be successful you should learn from them.
